DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES?

Have you ever witnessed a miracle?

Definition of miracle — an effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers

Last week was a crazy week in my world. There were two cars totalled and my dad was admitted to the hospital all by Wednesday!

Although there were a lot of emotions to process for the week, at the end of the week, things were pretty good, but I want to share a story.

One of the accidents was in the morning while she was on her way to school. It was raining, and the road she drives on, traffic typically runs between 60 and 70 mph… even though the speed limit is only 55 mph (I do not know how fast she was going, I’m just guessing).

As she approached an intersection where she had the right-away, a minivan pulled across the four-lane road thinking they could make it before the oncoming traffic was there.

The timing wasn’t right and her car collided with the driver’s side of the minivan. At the scene of the accident when everything came to a stop, the minivan laid on its side while her car rested on its wheels.

As the story has been pieced together from witnesses and friends, her car flipped 2 to 3 times before settling on the grass. From the photographs and descriptions of the car, the engine was totally pushed into the leg space of the front seats. Everything was out of place and the front end of the car was unrecognizable. The metal on all sides of the car was crumpled from the car tumbling.

There were many people who stopped to help. When they pulled her out of her car, she was unconscious, but somehow they were able to get her out before the car caught fire. Fortunately, a nurse was one who stopped, and she took care of her until the paramedics arrived. Rumor has it, the nurse was amazing!

The girl suffered many internal injuries, including a broken back and a severe concussion.

  • Miracle #1 - The girl is alive!
  • Miracle #2 - The nurse was in the right place at the right time.
  • Miracle #3 - The car landed where they could get her out before it caught fire.
  • Miracle #4 - Any other day, she had another student with her in the car, but that day; he overslept for the first time.
  • Miracle #5 - The minivan driver survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
  • Miracle #6 - A whole community has been touched and are coming together to help support the family.
  • Miracle #7 - Each day she improves. She will heal and walk again.

I am sure there is more to add to this list, but for such a tragedy, there were many miracles that happened. For the girl to survive that violent of a crash. For the nurse to just be passing by and to stop. The car to land upright and the fact that they could get her out without the jaws-of-life is amazing. The other student who overslept. The community that is rallying. And… she has a road to recovery, but she will heal and walk again.

It is easy to look at this situation and list miracles; a divine intervention on a tragedy. But if you look, miracles happen every day and all around us.

There is so much in this world to be thankful for. There are miracles that happen in our lives every day, we just have to look for them. For example, have you ever met someone who has become a dear friend or family; a godsend in your life? Out of the billions of people on this planet, how does that perfect connection happen? In my eyes, it is a miracle.

Have you ever had something happen that you thought was bad, but it turned out to be a good thing down the road? Maybe didn’t get a job you applied for, but ended up with a better one. Or you were short on money and got cash from someone unexpectedly. Got a bonus that ended up being the exact amount that you needed to repair a car issue.

Sometimes we take things for granted, brush them off as a coincidence, but if you look and really think about the situation, you will start recognizing them as miracles. I encourage you to think back over your day or last week and look for the miracles that happened in your life.

A miracle doesn’t have to be a life-changing event, they come in all sizes. What miracles have touched your life?

Sending peace, love and joy to you my friend.
Sam
